Bolt Aims For World Champs Triple
January 24, 2013

Two-time Olympic 100m and 200m champion, Usain Bolt, reports that he is injury free and training well, as he looks forward to continue his spell of sprinting dominance at this summer's IAAF World Championships in Athletics.

Bolt, who created history at last year's Olympic Games - becoming the first man to win back-to-back sprint doubles at the Games - was yesterday announced by organisers as a competitor at the ExxonMobil Bislett Games in Oslo on June 13. The meet is the sixth stop in the lucrative 14-venue Samsung Diamond League series.
The double world record holder will line up in the 200m in a meet that will be crucial to his 200m World title defence, which is expected to unfold at the August 10-18 IAAF World Championships in Moscow, Russia.
"The aim for 2013 is the IAAF World Championships in Moscow in August. My goal is to win three gold medals and repeat my Olympic Games success.
"My 200m race at the Bislett Stadium on June 13 will be an important stepping stone towards that goal," said Bolt.
"My preparations have been good this fall. I am injury free, working hard and everything is going according to plan. I hope to come to Bislett prepared and ready to run a great race," Bolt said.
Bolt ran the 200m at Bislett in 2011 in 19.87, which is only a few hundredths of a second behind the current stadium record of 19.82, set in 1996 by Namibia's former World 200m champion, Frankie Fredericks.
At last year's meet, Bolt lined up in the 100m, recording a stadium-record 9.79, which helped him to win his first Diamond League title in the event.
"I have many good memories from this great city and from the Bislett Stadium. I was really happy with the time of 9.79 in the 100 metres last year - it was a stadium record. I will run the 200m this year and look forward to competing in front of passionate and knowledgeable athletics fans," Bolt continued.
"I am looking forward to come back to Oslo and the ExxonMobil Bislett Games this summer," Bolt added.
It is still unclear when the sprinting superstar will actually open his 2013 season.
