   About Us

Mr. Howard Aris has had a distinguished career in the Public Service generally, and in the Sports Arena in particular. Following completion of undergraduate and postgraduate training at Columbia University, New York, Mr. Aris returned to his homeland and has spent the last 33 years at the forefront of Sports Administration, Sports Development and Planning, Management and Physical Therapy.

Currently, he serves as Chairman of the Sports Development Foundation, Executive Director of the National Council on Sports, a member of Chase Board and Director of Independence Park Ltd., which has responsibility for the management of Jamaica’s National Stadium. In addition, Mr. Aris is Advisor to the Minister of Local Government, Community Development and Sport. Mr. Aris’ service to Track & Field has seen his representing Jamaica as a multi-time delegate to the IAAF Congresses, as Coach/Manager for many of Jamaica’s teams to numerous International Meets including World Championships, The Commonwealth Games, Pan-American and Olympic Games. He has also served as Chairman of the Institute Of Sports and is a former Vice President Of the Jamaica Amateur Athletic Association Limited.

Mr. Aris was deservedly recognized by the Government of Jamaica in 1998 when he was awarded the ORDER Of DISTINCTION (Officer Class) For Contribution to Sports. The Jamaica Amateur Athletic Association Limited is blessed to have this very well trained, well experienced and well connected Business Executive and Sports professional at its helm, as President.

He has indicated his determination to build on the successes achieved by his predecessors in a quest to further cement Jamaica’s position as a powerful force in the world of Track & Field. He understands the value of Teamwork and is committed to collaborating as and when necessary to Bring Development Plans to Reality. President Aris may be contacted at:-
